Originally from the Orient, dill was exported on the Roman campaigns and is now considered the “herb of the north”. In Scandinavia and the Baltic States, dill determines the character of numerous fish dishes. But it is also popular in the Mediterranean countries. Here dill gives the most famous yoghurt dip "Tsatsiki" its unmistakable note. In European cuisine, its taste, reminiscent of caraway seeds and lime, spices up fish dishes, and of course cucumber salads and preserves.
