Dan Pearson is one of the world’s most influential designers, with a highly sensitive approach to landscape and garden design. With his typical respectful and highly sensitive approach to landscape and the environment, he has created a garden at the 240-hectare Tokachi Millennium Forest in Hokkaido, Japan.
To help visitors connect with the landscape, he has drawn elements of the natural landscape into the garden, and reaches out into the woods with his distinctive planting style. He introduces contemporary ecological planting ideas, using wonderful Japanese native plants, many of which are familiar garden plants to us. Since almost two decades he has been involved in this unique project which is described and beautifully illustrated in this book.
“Dan is one of the most thoughtful garden designers I know and one of the few who understands the future of our gardens. His plant knowledge, aesthetics and taste speak through everything he designs and the Tokachi Millennium Forest deserves to be known by a wider public.” Piet Oudolf
